bets had her one-year well check appointment today. first things first. here're the stats:
Photobucket

weight: 17lbs 14oz (7th percentile)
height: 28 3/4" (40th percentile)
head circumference:44.2cm (25th percentile)

so i guess she's a little on the scrawny side, but what can you do? the kid doesn't care about food. weirdo. what else. she got four shots, so the next couple days should be interesting. ad infinitum she actually did really well. all the other times we've been to see our doc, she's had a little meltdown from just the eye contact. not this time. she loved being naked and crawling all over that crinkly paper on the examining table/bench. she laughed and talked to the doc while he shined light in her eyes, stuck a funnelly thing in her ears, and jabbed her in the stomach to check for who-knows-what. she was even enjoying the nurse's company as she was alcoholling down her little thighs. poor kid, didn't even see it coming. she kicked and writhed during the poking, but recovered within about a minute and was happily waving goodbye by the time we were strolling out of the facility.

things that make me happy:
  • we get to switch to real milk!  no more formula, WOO!
  • she's cleared to eat any and all table food i deem appropriate.
thing(s) that make me less happy:
  • i love whole milk, and i consider it a hazard to have it on hand where i can poor myself a glass at a moment's notice.  worse yet, we have in the cupboard, at this very moment, a serious costco-sized supply of nestles quick! and how!

ps i've been practicing with the photo editing of my skin tones.  this pic's skin is the product of about an hour of suffering.  i'm a learning computer.

    3. Wow - a year - congratulations!! She is cute and tiny! (Audrey has been in the 19.5 lb range for the last month already - although she hasn't seemed to gain much recently).

The picture looks great! I love that you are learning so much - I am inspired (I still pretty much point and shoot...)

    4. I'm glad to hear you are a whole milk drinker. I think we are a dying breed. Most people I know drink the watered down stuff. We also have the costo size nestles quick, and can't live without it.
