the ferb

update: last night was the worst night of my life. seriously. elizabeth cried for 20 minutes, and then i heard her gagging and choking. i ran into her room, turned on the light and flipped her onto her side so she wouldn't choke on the vomit that had exited, and was continuing to spew from her mouth. mortified. needless to say, i started bawling my eyes out. changed her clothes and bedding and then let her fall asleep in my arms. bad idea. i put her in her crib asleep and she woke up a half an hour later and screamed for another 25 minutes. really, the worst night of my life. but i know if i'd have given in and picked her up, we'd be in the same predicament tonight. there's good news though, because today she took two naps in her crib where she fell asleep by herself in fewer than five minutes with no swaddle or pacifier. and then tonight, i made sure she was SUPER tired before i put her down for the night, but she was awake when i put her in her crib. she gave about two whines, turned over and went to sleep all on her own. you cannot imagine my relief. its been over an hour, and i know if she makes it past the first 40 minute sleep cycle without a crying episode, we're golden.

here's a few more photos from out blood-draw day.

  1. Wow, you've been busy! I've learned so much about motherhood from the last two posts. She is still the cutest baby out there these days.

  2. Hang in there! It gets better!!!! The hysterical barfing is so traumatic. I hate that part! I think eventually you get pretty good at recognizing you're babies cues and then you can tell when its safe to put them down and walk away. Once Keane starts rubbing his eyes and messing up his hair, bedtime here we come!
