update:

i feel like i'm being prepared for the impending newborn: no sleep, and a baby who cries all day long.  it's all coming back to me now.

this virus is proving itself to be serious business.  we went to our regular doc today and he said the fever portion, which typically lasts four days, is the height of this illness.  so, my calculation is declaring tonight as her last night of misery.  please.  pretty please?

on a side note, i'm currently feeling like a terrible person.  is my child turning into that kid who's always sick?  and what part am i playing in that?  do kids just get sick a lot?  and when they get sick, is it like super-nasty sick?  or is this just a particularly nasty sickness, and i'm right in the middle of it, so my perspective is off?  i guess it doesn't help that when your kids get sick, you as a parent are put on house arrest.  maybe i just need to socialize.  meet me on facebook in ten.

  1. have you met my kids? Parker is a constant runny nose, and Carson was always sick until he was about 3 and now he rarely gets sick. I like to think we just got it out of his system, expose them to everything, and then they are good to go!

Hand, foot, mouth sucks. We had that years ago and it was miserable. Sorry and hope she gets better soon

  2. Totally normal. Everyone gets hand, foot, and mouth. It makes you a legit parent right? Goodluck hope she starts to feel better

  3. I think it's probably better to expose her to all the germs right now so she'll have a super tough immune system! My dad protected me from every germ and now I get sick anytime anyone has the slightest hint of a sneeze. Hahhaa. and my husband ate food off the floor as a kid and he's stong as an ox, immune system wise.

  4. We had a year where family members (important famous ones) called their family members and told them to stay away from my children because they were so sick. Yep it really happened. Then after we were in Mexico wearing face masks during the swine flu outbreak our neighborhood and school quarantined us. Told us not to come out and play and NOT to go to school. Yep that really happened too. Then this year we are as healthy as a horse (knock on wood) and I have decided that it goes in cycles. You will have a healthy winter next year and we will again be quarantined with some strange African virus that no one has ever heard of. Yep it probably will happen.

  5. Maren hit the nail on the head. Now for my 2 cents, whether you want them or not:) Let her play in the dirt, get messy and get sick. Hudson was the same way. Crazy sicknesses back to back until he was about 2 and a half and he has only been sick maybe 3 times in the last 4 years. I layed off the hand sanitizer as much as possible since it kills the good bacteria too. I know, soooo unsanitary, but I just don't care. I know I'm cursing myself by saying this and all my kids will be crazy sick tomorrow!

  6. I hear you on the house arrest! My little munchkins have been sick for two weeks (first one then the other of course!) I think I lost touch with reality a little and had to count the days on the calendar to realize it hadn't been a year like it felt since I had left the house. Sleep deprivation makes you nuts!
